About the Director

Originally from Schenectady, NY, Marilyn Alletzhauser holds two degrees in Music Education: one from Ithaca College School of Music, and a masters form Boston University. She also holds a master's degree in Choral Conducting from UNM. Having moved around the country a lot, Marilyn has taught music in the public schools in Syracuse, NY; directed three musicals in Florida; taught Double Reeds and Class Voice at Idaho St. University; and taught Choral Conducting at the University of New Mexico. Instrumentally, she played the bassoon in the Idaho St. Symphony Orchestra and the University of New Mexico Symphony Orchestra.

But it is her love of choral music which has directed her towards the inception of Quodlibet. Established in 1994, this small a cappella choir presents two main concerts each year (fall & spring) and also sings for private parties, weddings, and other engagements during the Christmas season. Marilyn enjoys the Renaissance period because of the pure sounds of sacred music and the fun of singing and directing madrigals of the 16th century. She is also a firm believer that the music of local composers should be heard, and although this is not Renaissance music,Quodlibet has performed several compositions by local composers throughout the years.
